In an attempt of the Deanship of Development and Quality (DDQ) to continuously improve the performance and enhance the abilities and skills of the faculty members in the area of building and evaluating the Student Learning Outcomes of student learning, the DDQ organized a workshop entitled "Programs' Learning Outcomes and their Evaluation Plans" that had been delivered by the NCAAA consultant, Dr. Hanan Al-Olayan in collaboration with the DDQ consultant, Dr. Eid Abu Al-Eiz and Dr. Najla Mustafa, the DDQ Dean's assistant on Wednesday 105/06/1440 A.D corresponding to 20/2/2019. In its first session, the workshop focused on the concepts of learning outcomes, the Saudi Qualifications Framework (SQF) and the relationship of the learning outcomes with the academic program's Mission and Objectives. In the second session, the trainees were divided into small groups to study and analyze their program's learning outcomes. A number of academic programs' Missions and Objectives were reviewed reaching to their strengths and weaknesses as well as how they relate to the learning outcomes of their programs. The third session highlighted the measuring and evaluating plans. The trainers explained that the success of these plans depends on the development of accurate learning outcomes and coherent and appropriate teaching and evaluation strategies. These plans are based on a number of methods, including rubrics, student grades, courses, relative weight of requirements and direct and indirect measures. In specific, the workshop was attended by a large number of faculty members hoping to conduct such workshops within the different colleges and branches of the university. The Dean of DDQ, Dr. Fahad Al-Sahli indicated that that such workshops are considered the cornerstone in building learning outcomes consistent with the attributes of PSAU's graduates. This workshop will be continued after two weeks as a practical workshop in the trainees would review and update their academic programs' Mission, Objectives, and Learning Outcomes at the university level. Consequently, this workshop would contribute in enhancing the quality of PSAU's graduates and increasing their competitiveness in the marketplaces.
