The Deanship of Development and Quality organized a workshop entitled “Teaching Strategies” as seventy five trainees from the university attended the workshop. The workshop was initiated by providing examples concerned with using the strategy of discussion groups inside the classroom, which necessitates the sound planning from the instructor and the preparation from the students. In addition, the workshop tackles the brainstorming as a teaching methodology as it provokes the mind of the learner to think creatively, learn how to solve the problems and to make decisions. The trainees were divided into several groups as each group was entitled to practice the strategy of brainstorming to solve a given problem. In addition, they were trained to practice the cooperative learning and other teaching strategies.
“The goal behind organizing such workshop is to equip the faculty members with the concepts and experiences pertaining to the various teaching strategies, and how to fulfill the intended learning outcomes. In addition, the workshop clarifies several concepts such as learning, teaching, the nature of learning and teaching, teaching strategies, the basic tools of students’ learning, the strategies of students’ learning and how to implement some interactive strategies of teaching. This workshop is a part of the training series sponsored by the Deanship of Development & Quality tackling different issues related to the Quality and the Academic Accreditation in line with improving the quality of the educational process and the academic programs: Not to mention the fact that the University prepares itself to apply for the academic accreditation at program and institution levels”, reported by Dr. Saleh Alkahtani, the University Deputy for Development & Quality.
