Being seriously committed to identifying the importance of Performance Indicators and Benchmarking, the Deanship of Development& Quality organized a workshop entitled “Performance Indicators and Benchmarking.” The workshop was conducted and presented by Professor Hussein Al-maghraby, the executive director of Quality & Accreditation in the University. It is worth mentioning that this workshop is a part of the Development &Quality Deanship Plan aiming at fulfilling the Institutional Developmental Review Project.
The workshop has been attended by 64 trainees including both genders. It aimed at training the attendees to choose and design the key performance indicators (KPI) and how to make use of them in benchmarking at colleges and academic programs.
The workshop tackled the following points:
· How to determine the performance indicators to effectively evaluate the performance at the College and Program Levels.
· The optimum and the efficient use of data and statistics necessary for determining the performance indicators with the aim of improving and developing the college and the program.
Prof. Al-maghrby has resorted to using different teaching strategies to communicate his ideas as clear as possible to the trainees. These teaching strategies include but not limited to the following; lecturing, brainstorming, power point presentations. The workshop witnessed unprecedented discussions between the trainer and the trainees, which focused on the potential problems and the difficulties which may face college/program in calculating the performance indicators and determining the suitable program as a benchmark, which helps improve the educational process at the various colleges of the University and produce highly qualified graduates being equipped with the necessary knowledge that help them win over the fierce competition of the labor market.
